I had hoped to try making a balti this weekend, but I couldn’t find all the necessary ingredients at Wally-Mart, and as they are the only show in town, (well 16 miles away to be exact), I had a change of plan.
As Pam in OK City requested a Chicken Tikka Masala, that’s what I made instead. So, just follow me to the kitchen. Take a right at the office door, along the corridor, through the dining room, and here we are.
I will post more writerly advice later in the week, as I need to actually get writerly and prepare for an interview tomorrow for my next article for Oklahoma Living Magazine.

I think you need to make that balti though - I used to love a good balti back home, and would kill for a great recipe!
Funnily enough, I have been looking for the requisite balti ingredients online. I don't know why I didn't think of doing that before, just the onset of creeping senility, I suppose. Leave it with me.
mmmmm.... I love cooking curries. In NY it's pretty easy to get all the ingredients - but funnily enough this weekend I cooked for my boyfriend's family in south jersey and - having been spoiled in NY for so long - I chose to cook a curry, assuming it would be easy to get the ingredients. It wasn't, of course... the curry seemed a bit half-arsed to me, but everyone seemed to enjoy it!
Jan, I cook all my own curries here too and rely on trips to World Market in Amarillo for supplies, Walmart is useless!
Btw gorgeous lake!
Thanks for stopping by LB.
I never used to have a problem getting ingredients in California. And though I prefer living in the sticks, it does have its disadvantages.
Hi Sarah,
This lake is massive, 46,500 surface acres of water, 1,300 miles of shoreline - more than the coastline of California. (I wrote an article about it, can't ya tell?) :-)
Wow, This is a great and different recipes. Very nice site. I love Balti and Chicken Tikka Masala. Can't wait to see your posting. This is a simple kitchen recipes. I am going to home and ask my mom to do it.
